Goshoen was built by Furukawaya, a kitamaebune shipping merchant who was active during the Edo period, to entertain such distinguished guests as the lord of the Obama domain.
Until recently, Goshoen was not open to the public. Hashikura Matsukan Inc., a manufacturer of lacquered chopsticks based in Obama, renovated the property and made it "a villa for everyone", in May of 2021.
At the coffee stand of the GOSHOEN, you can enjoy espresso drinks, as well as other drinks and sweets.
